Job Description

Drive continuous improvement across the Corporate Compliance program by monitoring changes in the law, developing and updating policies and procedures, assessing risks, developing and implementing compliance training, implementing compliance controls and leading compliance projects and initiatives.

Primary responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an effective training and communication program for employees, senior leaders and relevant third parties for assigned lines of business to ensure alignment with new laws and regulations
  • Conduct risk assessments across assigned lines of business and develop controls to address areas requiring risk mitigation
  • Foster a streamlined approach to corporate compliance by implementing system solutions to automate and/or strengthen compliance controls and drive efficiency and effectiveness of department initiatives
  • Drive an approach that focuses on collaboration by networking with the business as well as openly communicating and engaging with key stakeholders
  • Develop training programs to ensure the organization understands applicable compliance risk areas
  • Conduct in-person training to employees on a variety of compliance subject matters
  • Develop controls, procedures and system solutions to enhance the effectiveness of the compliance function for assigned lines of business and in accordance with organization wide mandates
  • Oversee monitoring and testing function to ensure compliance programs are working effectively and requirements are being adhered to
  • Manage regularly scheduled compliance and ethics communications and surveys designed to support the broad awareness campaign
  • Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and  properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility

Required Qualifications


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience

  • 6 years relevant experience
  • Insurance industry experience; corporate compliance experience; systems background; legal background; increasing levels of responsibility


Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Doctoral Degree
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)

Experience

  • Subject matter expertise in corporate compliance risk areas, including but not limited to: ethics, codes of conduct, fraud, conflicts of interest, antitrust, sanctions, anti-corruption, privacy, records management, whistleblowing, incident handling, control implementation, compliance training, developing policies and procedures, designing and implementing controls, performing monitoring activities, third party compliance and compliance reporting

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)


Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, particularly property and casualty lines of business
  • Advanced working knowledge of relevant state and federal laws and regulations

  • Utilize personal credibility to influence others
