Job Description

Assist assigned underwriters in the daily underwriting and processing of line of business by reviewing/creating binders, applications, renewals and endorsements to determine acceptance, rejection or coverage modification to meet established guidelines with company underwriting policies.

Primary responsibilities

•             Monitor all pending items from brokers and clients for existing policies by following required processes and guidelines to support business strategy

•             Assist with new submission reviews, buyer research and underwriting model completion by applying sound judgment to minimize risk and contribute to business growth

•             Assist with the preparation of binder and policy documents by adhering to deadlines and guidelines to send complete and accurate details to broker

•             Track new and pending claims status by liaising between the company and broker to contribute to the underwriting planning process

•             Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value “can do” people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun

Required Qualifications


High School Diploma/GED           


2 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications


•             Relevant trends and information within the industry

•             Products and concepts relating to the insurance industry

•             Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Microsoft Office Suite

•             Demonstrated practice of keeping current with new and emerging tools and technologies relevant to the line of work


•             Follow established guidelines to focus on details and complete tasks attentively and thoroughly

•             Escalate issues when necessary

•             Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups to settle differences with minimum noise

•             Manage and prioritize competing responsibilities concurrently and effectively

•             Multi-task and handle competing priorities


•             Demonstrated interest in enhancing knowledge; seeks opportunities to learn and grow

•             Identify impact of a given decision

•             Use multiple resources to gather and analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems

•             Adapt and be flexible in a complex changing environment

Infrequent (approximately 1-4 trips annually)

Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is not substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone, headset and computer. Incumbent must be able to lift basic office equipment up to 20 pounds.
