Job Description

Under the direction of the Global Head of Fixed Income, develops, implements and executes fixed income portfolio strategies aiming to achieve the target risk and return profile for the allocated funds within pre-determined investment parameters. Actively engaged in divisional client support.

Key Result Areas & Key Performance Indicators

Strategy and Planning

  • Development of portfolio strategies and portfolio construction based upon the analysis of macro-economic factors and sector fundamentals as they affect the level of interest rates, issuer’s credit quality and the relative value among fixed income sectors.
  • Design, evaluation and implementation of new initiatives, including investments in new asset classes
  • Attend regular external meetings with counterparties.
  • Contributes to deliver absolute return targets and outperform the composite benchmarks by actively recommending and supporting investment ideas and portfolio changes across currencies and jurisdictions
  • Offer considered opinions, challenging ways of conventional thought and always exploring for better ways to do things.
  • Drive a rigorous and disciplined credit analysis process. Make buy/sell investment recommendations based on the analysis performed.
  • Integrate internal economic and credit research with external research
  • Show ability to implement and execute portfolio transactions in a consistent and effectively, respecting dealing guidelines and broker panel.
  • Contribute to promote change as appropriate to deliver GI and FI Initiatives. Active involvement in NIPVA process as required.
  • High standard Professional representation.

  • Compliance with all client investment mandates and regulatory requirements
  • Compliance with all delegated authorities and risk parameters, and demonstrate understanding of the risk management framework
  • Creation and enhancement of robust processes
  • Construct Portfolios consistent across funds and within regulatory constraints
  •  Daily monitor of portfolio positioning and performance
  • Full understanding of the risk management framework. Self-identification of incidents and immediate remediation of breaches.
  • Compliance/Operations Teams do not highlight unresolved or pending issues, and all information or feedback requests are timely provided
  • Provide timely and thoughtful input into the review of processes and policies, as well as UAT activities in which participation is required.
  • Support change related activities as appropriate

Customer and process Focus

  • Build and maintain highly effective relationships within FI, across Group Investments, and with Group and Divisional stake-holders.
  • Provide business and product knowledge for relevant project management activities.
  • Support the Global Head of Fixed Income in the provision of relevant information for report generation. Ensure provision of information to meet client needs with timely, consistent and high-quality standards
  • Demonstrate understanding of timeliness and criticality of information
  • Collaborate with colleagues including participation in cross sectional team projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in Investment committee and diverse forums as required.

People Management

Knowledge

  • Relevant degree in Economics/Finance/Business
  • Background information and proven ability and interest to investigate, analyze, understand markets / political / regulatory / institutional developments, as well as organize findings and build presentations

  • Investments acumen, possess strong technical and analytical skills as well as strong fixed income knowledge across markets
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build deep, trusting internal and external relationships
  • Able to multitask

  • Strong written and oral communicator
  • Challenging mindset. Solutions oriented and intellectually curious
  • Proficiency in MS Office Tools and Bloomberg.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the financial services or investment field, with a focus on providing portfolio recommendations to clients or in-depth financial or market analysis.
  • Direct experience in portfolio management, research generation, or due diligence of Fixed Income portfolios
