Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development and delivery of cross-business measurement frameworks and best practice standards for management and business reporting
  • Enable interactive analytics and insight capabilities for business partners through the use of innovative visualization and reporting tools
  • Define measurement strategies and KPIs based on business requirements and track impact of business decisions on performance
  • Interpret measurement results and recommend improvements to business strategies
  • Oversee strategic measurement initiatives, manage analytical reporting development and service delivery, continuously improve reporting accuracy, automation and efficiency
  • Work in close collaboration with Data Strategy and Standards and Technology teams to guide enterprise data platform development in support of Performance Measurement and Reporting objectives, ensure consistent metric definitions and effective use of business intelligence (BI) platform capabilities
  • Lead on-shore and off-shore analyst teams to prioritize business requests, provide quality on-time delivery, and deploy consistent reporting tools and processes
  • Partner with Analytics, Finance, Actuarial, Information Technology and Project Management Office to support business needs
  • Manage a performance enhancement culture by actively coaching and mentoring direct reports, providing regular feedback and developing employees for wider roles and responsibilities to foster professional growth and development
  • Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and  properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility
  • Contribute to a positive environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and guiding leaders to reward performance and value “can do” people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun

Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • 10+ years relevant experience in Business Intelligence development experience with insurance or financial services firm; consulting experience; increasing levels of responsibility; experience working with relational databases and emerging data sources/database technology
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Advanced degree (MS/MA/MBA) in finance, statistics, mathematics, operations research, computer science, business intelligence, information management or other related field  (preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of BI, visualization and analytical reporting tools and successful business applications
  • Advanced knowledge of SAS, SQL, MS Power BI, Cognos, and other similar analysis and BI tools
  • Deep understanding of performance measurement principles and data management/quality capabilities needed to support analytic reporting
  • Advanced ability to implement measurement strategies and identify insights that deliver significant sustained business impact
  • Broad knowledge of insurance industry operations and measurement
  • Advanced working knowledge of operational efficiency principals and best practices
  • Understand the principles underlying the relationship among facts and apply this understanding when solving problems
  • Coordinate, implement and manage large scale and complex projects; evaluate outcomes and interpret results
  • Understand the needs and goals of customers and actively look for ways to meet them; establish and maintain effective, trusting and respectful relationships with customers
  • Effectively present information to influence organizational leaders and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical personnel both verbally and in reports
  • Maintain composure and adjust priorities to manage unexpected changes and time-sensitive requests
  • Use internal and external resources to gather, analyze and reorganize information
  • Understand team dynamics and utilize the individual strengths of each team member to achieve results
  • Motivational, inspirational and enthusiastic approach to team involvement and engagement
