Job Description

Lead fundamental credit analysis efforts of domestic and international corporates and financials and investment credit products. Make conclusions and recommendations that support the investment process and contributes to achieve the overall return targets and organizational objectives.

Key Result Areas & Key Performance Indicators


Strategy and Planning


  • Lead and manage Credit Risk Analysis team, with people reporting to this position in two locations (NY and Sydney).
  • Drive continued improvement by leading and reviewing team’s financial analyses, evaluating gaps and communicating feedback.
  • Ensure analysts conduct accurate research, implement best practices and deliver sound credit risk reports to facilitate recommendations to Portfolio Managers.
  • Lead the financial assessment and credit opinions for the investment in new and existing issuers and products, especially in those that present higher complexity and risks as measured by risk ratings, risk structuring strategies, risk/exposure mitigation/reduction strategies.
  • Leads the identification, assessment, integration and ongoing management of ESG factors into our Credit Fixed Income research and investment process.
  • Contribute to budgeting process by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements
  • Attend regular external meetings with counterparties.
  • Identifiable recommendations that support the delivery of the return targets
  • Offers considered opinions, challenging ways of conventional thought and always exploring for better ways to do things
  • Rigorous and disciplined credit analysis process. Quality of data analysis and insights
  • Leads and promotes change as appropriate to deliver GI and FI Initiatives
  • High standard Professional representation   
  • Supports Head of Fixed Income to lead credit committees
  • Full understanding of credit principles, implementation of best practices and adherence to established company policies, processes and guidelines

Policies and Procedures

  • Compliance with all delegated authorities and risk parameters, and demonstrate understanding of the risk management framework
  • Foster a partnered approach to strategy development by collaborating with department leaders to analyze, refine and enhance current practices, policies and procedures to ensure future planning aligns with business expectations and optimizes future profitability
  • Recommend Global Credit Risk Management activities relating to systems and credit training and manage information sources
  • Full understanding of the risk management framework. Self-identification of incidents.
  • Compliance/Operations Teams do not highlight unresolved or pending issues, and all information or feedback requests are timely provided
  • Provide timely and thoughtful input into the review of processes and policies, as well as UAT activities in which participation is required.
  • Lead and promote change related activities as appropriate

Customer and process Focus

  • Support GCIO, Global Head of Fixed Income and Portfolio Managers in client relationship and business development activities by using high degree of business acumen and credit expertise
  • Build and maintain highly effective relationships within FI, across Group Investments, and with Group and Divisional stake-holders.
  • Contribute to relevant project management activities
  • Support the Global Head of Fixed Income in the provision of relevant information for report generation. Ensure provision of information to meet client needs with timely, consistent and high-quality standards
  • Ensure ongoing maintenance of Monitoring and Watch lists, and timely diligence of existing issuers as measured by no due STATIC reports.
  • Demonstrate understanding of timeliness and criticality of information
  • Collaborate with colleagues including participation in cross sectional team projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in Investment committee and diverse forums as required.

Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree required and CFA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Advanced working knowledge of credit risk analyses and financial modeling, economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets.
  • Experience in assessing complex corporate and capital structure
  • Ability to interpret legal documents

Experience

  • Substantial credit/risk assessment experience for over 10 years gained from a credit rating agency, financial institution, asset management or public accounting firm
  • Experience managing people preferred

Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is not substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone, headset and computer.
