Our Infrastructure function has an exciting Lead Enterprise Architect opportunity where the selected candidate will be responsible for defining enterprise IT systems architecture by translating business strategy and requirements while adhering to architecture and security standards. Develops and manages a holistic view of the QBE’s Strategy/Roadmaps, Reference Architecture and Frameworks, Standards, processes, and governance around IT Services and technology assets. Partner with company innovation center to assist in experiments and identifying alignment to architecture and business.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Provide firm-wide thought leadership around leveraging assets to the larger long-term benefit of the enterprise
  • Developing and managing a holistic view of  QBE’s Strategy/Roadmaps, Reference Architecture and Frameworks, Standards, processes, and governance around IT Services and technology assets. 
  • Partnering  with company innovation center to assist in experiments and identifying alignment to architecture and business
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Global IT architectural standards by participating in various review and assurance committees supporting regional and global projects.
  • Communicate QBEs enterprise architecture to relevant IT and business stakeholders including training of team members to assist in understanding of enterprise architecture concepts
  • Understand, drive and integrate new technologies to improve business processes and decision-making
  • Recommends and participates in the analysis, evaluation and development of enterprise long term strategic and operating plans to ensure that the enterprise architect (EA) objectives are consistent with the enterprise’s long-term business objectives
  • Contribute to and drive the global standard product/services solution selection
  • Liaise among third-party solution developers and internal key stakeholders by reviewing and providing input on third-party developed solution designs and security assessments
  • Collaborate with all relevant parties to review the objectives and constraints of each solution and determine conformance with the EA. Recommend the most suitable technical architecture and defines the solution at a high level
  • Identify and recommend areas appropriate for further study and participate in any projects required to thoroughly investigate architectural possibilities and strengthen arguments for their adoption
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of QBEs business and IT strategies to provide support during various technology decision making activities
  • Support the development of QBE’s IT strategy and the development of QBEs future enterprise architecture state
  • Manage QBE’s enterprise architecture including the current status of processes, data, applications and infrastructure to support QBE
  • Identify new or technology improvement opportunities across QBE to deliver cost savings and improved business service and support the scoping and prioritization of these opportunities
  • Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and  properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility
  • Contribute to a positive environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and guiding leaders to reward performance and value “can do” people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun

Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:


  • 8 years’ experience in strategic/Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture roles in a large organization, taking accountability for both conceptual thinking and practical implementation
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Advanced working knowledge of technology to control and safeguard the collection, organization, structure, processing and delivery of data
  • Understand business strategy, analyze business processes, and propose technical information-based solutions to support the enterprise
  • Working knowledge of configuration and adaptation, deployment, design patterns, risk management and scalability
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge across of a broad spectrum of IT services and solution technologies
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture concepts and tools.
  • Cloud Architecture and how applications/data can be managed in the cloud as well as integration patterns to support hybrid implementation patterns
  • Demonstrated practice of keeping current with new and emerging tools and technologies relevant to Enterprise Architecture
  • Effectively present information to influence organizational leaders and key stakeholders
  • Quickly understand, orient to, and learn new assignments
  • Critically review, analyze, synthesize, compare and interpret information
  • Conduct gap analysis of current state and desired future state; identify impact of a given decision
  • Use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Collaborate with people at different levels within the organization to accomplish a common goal
  • Creativity and alternative, open thinking to generate and support new or better ways of doing things
  • Identify connections between issues
  • Must be able to work with a global team
