Job Description

Serve as a subject matter expert providing consultation on complex and strategic vendor initiatives that allow QBE to optimize efficiency, effectiveness and superior customer service. Manage relationships with key vendors, addressing cross organizational operational issues and strategic opportunities. Partners with all levels of the organization to execute on both operational and strategic imperatives.

Overall Job Purpose

•Develop and lead recovery and vendor related strategy including assessment of operational needs, staffing needs and sourcing opportunities. Consults in the business rationale for insourcing versus outsourcing decisions.

•Measure effectiveness of mature programs while also vetting and implementing new initiatives

•Manage all  recovery  and related vendor programs for assigned line(s) of business, serving as point of contact for moderate to highly complex issues

•Proactively assess opportunities to drive cost efficiencies and quality improvements within existing contracts and business processes through renegotiation or alternate sourcing strategies

•Conduct monthly and quarterly governance meetings with vendors and key stakeholders to review performance of outsourcing engagements

•Lead the collection, analysis and reporting of metrics and data related to performance of outsourced work; managing other QBE resources if necessary

•Contribute toward ongoing improvement of vendor management practices, anticipation of future requirement and research and analyze emerging trends

•Build in partnership a quality assurance program with the Compliance department to ensure appropriate vendor audits are completed annually or as appropriate

•Partner with Procurement and other industry experts to benchmark key metrics and assess how QBE’s position with each vendor compares to key competitors

•Collaborate successfully with all areas of the organization to optimize team productivity by demonstrating strong leadership and ability to drive consensus among leaders

•Manage a performance enhancement culture by actively coaching and mentoring direct reports, providing regular feedback and developing employees for wider roles and responsibilities to foster professional growth and development

•Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and  properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility

•Create a positive environment by modeling cultural expectations and guiding leaders to reward performance and value "can do" people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience


5 years relevant experience

Experience in worker’s compensation and managed care; increasing levels of responsibility                                                                                                                                     


•Current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting his/her business and organization

•Advanced working knowledge of processes and best practices

•Comprehensive knowledge of project management, continuous improvement methodologies and application


•Identify opportunities and implement strategies for synergy and integration

•Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups

•Communicate information in a clear, well-organized, and professional manner

•High degree of financial acumen and awareness of financial responsibility

•Analyze risks, benefits and opportunities to ensure organizational competitiveness and satisfaction of established long-range objectives


•Manage, influence and collaborate with people, including vendors, at different levels within the organization to accomplish a common goal

•Develop and use metrics to promote desired results

•Create and re-engineer processes to gain efficiency and effectiveness

•Provide vision; think creatively and innovatively

Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is not substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone, headset and computer. Incumbent must be able to lift basic office equipment up to 20 pounds.
