Job Description

Drive and lead the identification, development, and implementation of procurement category strategies to ensure QBE’s mission and objectives to increase revenue, profitability and growth as an organization and to ensure supplier related cost and quality improvements. This role will lead the sourcing and procurement activities for assigned categories which may include Hardware, Software and Services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cultivate internal and external relationships to drive results and build credibility for the Procurement function
  • Lead the sourcing and procurement activities for assigned categories, incorporating best practices and aligning with company strategies
  • Translate business objectives into viable spend for assigned categories that will drive supplier related cost and/or quality improvements
  • Lead the contractual and commercial ownership of sourcing agreements to ensure business case and benefit realization
  • Lead strategic relationship management discipline and forums for assigned categories to maximize the mutual value of each relationship by optimizing costs, reducing risk and harnessing innovation
  • Lead the identification of supplier gaps and overlaps for assigned categories against governance framework for service providers, and manage supplier relationships to ensure alignment to organizational needs
  • Identify and communicate process improvements to ensure best practices in the sourcing and procurement process are followed
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, developments, and new technologies that may impact the sourcing function
  • Develop guidelines and facilitate regular communication to ensure understanding of expectations
  • Manage the issue escalation process for assigned categories and resolve issues and minimize the number of disputes
  • Manage a performance enhancement culture by actively coaching and mentoring direct reports, providing regular feedback and developing employees for wider roles and responsibilities to foster professional growth and development
  • Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, resource needs/costs and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility
  • Collaborate globally with team members and stakeholders to leverage solutions and implement regional best practices
  • Provide a positive environment by modeling cultural expectations and guiding leaders to reward performance and value "can do" people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 7+ years professional experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, including 5+ years in IT sourcing

Knowledge

  • Advanced understanding of project management, continuous improvement methodologies and application
  • Advanced understanding of finance, supply chain, sourcing and/or procurement (profit and loss, cost centers, GL accounts, purchase orders)
  • Advanced experience in contract negotiations
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of RFPs (Request for Proposal), SLAs (Service Level Agreement) and supplier scorecards
  • Advanced knowledge of current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting business and organization; knows how the business works
  • Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources
  • Principles and strategies for managing large-scale, complex projects
