Job Description

Assist assign Corporate lines underwriters with business development and growth through building relationships within assigned customers and applying decision-making to underwrite business that contributes to a profitable portfolio. Responsibilities include assisting with new business production, renewal retention and the overall profitability of assigned book of business. This role is responsible for assisting with driving region results with a focus on agency relationships

Primary responsibilities
• Review, evaluate and price business by applying underwriting judgment and adhering to company policy and state regulations within established authority
• Assist with underwriting insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and the personal authority to meet business objectives including negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business, managing production and issue of contract documentation, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines, and ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives
• Assist with the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives
• Make entries, as required, properly and promptly in underwriting systems to ensure accuracy of data, in relation to underwriting and aggregate exposures
• Assist with managing assigned agents using the Agency Company Business Plan (ACBP) process
• Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
• Establish and maintain relationships with producers and customers to understand their needs and sell products that respond to their needs
• Foster strong partnerships with customers by informing on new products and programs, communicating opportunities for continuous improvement and clarifying and explaining underwriting decisions to ensure understanding of Commercial Lines goals and objectives

• Principles and processes for providing customer service
• Terminology, function and fundamental capabilities of common computer, software, information and communication technology devices, components, and concepts
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Travel frequency: Infrequent (approximately 1-4 trips annually)

Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is not substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone, headset and computer. Incumbent must be able to lift basic office equipment up to 20 pounds.
